The Walls of Jerusalem National Park is relatively small but stunningly beautiful. The park is located on a high plateau of dolerite peaks, and features alpine vegetation and endemic conifer forests. Situated on the western side of the extensive central plateau of Tasmania, it is approximately in the centre of the island. Thousands of lakes formed by an ice cap during relatively recent glaciation cover the plateau and the features known as the Walls of Jerusalem are a series of higher, craggy hills. From a distance, these peaks seem to be the dominant feature but once within the Walls the major features are the typically U-shaped glacial valleys and pretty lakes. The track leads from the car park near Lake Rowallan through sclerophyll forest before entering the alpine regions of the park at Herods Gate. The track continues to Dixons Kingdom and then onto Mt Jerusalem (1459 m).
Full day of pre-trek introductory lessons and gear advice. Two guides, private transfers to and from Walls of Jerusalem, 2 lunches. See our gear list for what we provide.
Nb. This is a long hard day and can be made longer and harder by unfavorable weather.
