Higgs Track is a fairly steep but very well maintained climb up from Western Creek to the top of the Great Western Tiers. A beautiful walk in winter as the streams partially freeze and icicles can been seen from the main track. There are magnificent views along the escarpment of the rugged Dolerite cliffs and on a clear day, North towards Bass Strait, and the plains below.
At the top of the track you can see Lady Lake hut as it is only a short walk away, and from the hut the lake is just around the corner. The plateau is home to numerous mountain tarns and is quite different from the beautiful rain forest of old Myrtles, Sassafras and ferns that the track passes through.
Full day of pre-trek introductory lessons and gear advice. Two guides, private transfers to and from Higgs Track, 2 lunches. See our gear list for what we provide.
