Located in the West Coast region of Tasmania, Frenchman’s Cap is situated in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. At 1,446 metres above sea level, the mountain is in the top thirty highest mountains in Tasmania. Home to Tasmania’s oldest rock, The south-east face of the peak is a 300 metre high cliff of white Precambrian quartzite. With unparalleled views from the summit, the hard work is rewarded with breathtaking views over some of the best mountain scenery in the State.
The Frenchman’s Cap trek is a 46km return journey over five days, which gives us a greater window of opportunity to successfully summit the peak. An introductory day of gear prep and lessons will be conducted prior to the first day of trekking to ensure everyone has the right gear and is fully prepared prior to setting out.
