Wilderness/Overland Track preparation course

 

Thinking of doing some hiking but don’t really know where to start? Or doing the Overland Track but are a bit unsure of a few things? This one day course will provide you with all the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to start seriously planning that trip you have always dreamt about. Based in  Launceston, the course covers topics such as safety in the mountains, principals of keeping warm, first aid, leave no trace, intro to navigation, nutrition, hygiene, weather interpretation, GPS intro and we will show you how to pack and carry your backpack without all the unnecessary gear that too many people carry. We also offer advice on gear, fitness and when and where to go for that first trip that you have been thinking about. The day will be punctuated by stories and examples gained over three decades in the outdoors and many OLT trip adventures. This is a great pre-day before you start your own OLT adventure!
